Summer Playlist!

But Abbey, it’s not June 21st yet? I know, I know. I’m home for summer break which means its SUMMER TO ME. So, I thought I would give you guys an updated playlist to help you make whatever transition you’re involved in, a little more bearable. Whether it be graduation, going home, leaving home, starting a job, or maybe just doing nothing. This time of the year is always emotional, beautiful, and fun so I want this playlist to represent that. number 1number 2 I tried to get as much variety as possible, but these are what I’ve actually been listening to nonstop recently (I happen to be on a bit of a dance/electronic kick lately). Some have been out a while and some are brand spanking new.

Songs like, “All My Love”, “Five More Hours”, “I Love It When You Cry”, and “Addicted to a Memory” all follow the dance craze. “All My Love” features gorgeous vocals from Ariana Grande herself. A song that should be blaring out of every radio station, but isn’t for some reason. “Five More Hours” proves that as much as we all want to hate Chris Brown, his voice is so insanely good, you can’t help but sing along. It also has a killer dance beat. “I Love it When You Cry” makes you feel ok to show emotion, showcasing Icona Pop-like vocals and a pounding chorus that will leave you hitting the repeat button…for real.

I also listed the Vance Joy cover of “I Know Places” by the lyrical songstress Taylor Swift. But Joy’s cover is immaculate, heavenly, and irresistible. (Read previous blog post).

“Coffee” by Miguel has been on repeat lately. It’s in classic Miguel fashion; sexy, provocative, and catchy as hell. Not to mention those vocals could make any human melt into a puddle… His new album is going to be pure fire, I just know it.

The 1975 have a song called “Me” that I’ve also recently fallen in love with. It’s super emotional and depressing, but there’s something beautiful about it. It touches on disappointment, regrets, and mistakes. Things everyone can relate to. Lead singer, Matty Healy’s voice draws you in like a psychedelic kaleidoscope. Halfway through “Me” a saxophone nonchalantly soothes your broken heart.

“Circles” and “Helios” are very cool songs I stumbled upon on iTunes. “Circles” is more on the trend of the pop/dance scene while “Helios” is a sultry mix of R&B and electronic. “Helios” quickly puts you in a trance, almost mind numbing (but in a good way). “Circles” is such a cute song, it really builds and amounts to be a great “summer cruising” song. It makes me wanna roll the top down and let my hair blow in the wind (oh wait, I drive a Honda Civic…)
