Rexha gives you a Saturday night anthem you can sing to your friend who’s crying in the bathroom over her ex-boyfriend who’s out in the club grinding on another nasty girl. “No broken hearts in the club, no tears in the club, cause we gon get it poppin’ tonight…more drinks pour it up,” she sings in her edgy pop voice. Electronic synths guide this song into everyone’s heads. A pounding chorus with repetitive lyrics is all you need to get hooked. Rexha maintains her bad girl image as we’ve heard on her other hits, like “Me, Myself, and I,” (with G Eazy) and “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You.” Minaj’s rap flare adds the essential hip-hop element this song needs. After first listen, you know it’s a banger.

Zayn proves once again that he’s pulling a classic Justin Timberlake and finding his true success out of his solo career versus the boy band that brought him into the spotlight. My prediction? Zayn’s debut album Mind of Mine will solidify his place into the pop/R&B sensation that’s taking over radio waves. His latest single, “BeFoUr” takes on a darker vibe as Malik hazily sings, “So say what you wanna say, what you want, shame is you won’t say that to my face.” Poetic lyrics flow effortlessly out of Zayn’s mouth as a striking beat pulls you in with every verse. Layered pretty harmonies (reminiscent of a young Justin Timberlake) plague the chorus in the sexiest way. Don’t even get me started on that falsetto. I will now refer to Zayn as the reincarnated Justin Timberlake. This is just the beginning for Zayn and he knows it…

If there’s one thing we all know about Sia, it’s that she knows how to make you feel. Her latest single, “Unstoppable” is your new power anthem. She chants, “I don’t need batteries to play, I’m so confident, yeah, I’m unstoppable today.” Her voice shines in this song, as it always does. Every note sounds impeccable and the beat compliments her perfectly. The pounding drums make this song movie-score ready at any moment. Much like her other single, “Alive”, “Unstoppable” proves that Sia’s new album This Is Acting will be all about self-empowerment. Sounds good to me. January 29 can’t get here fast enough…

Rapper Mac Miller recruits Miguel for his foot-stomping anthem, “Weekend” off his album GO:OD AM. Miller talks it out on each verse, while Miguel croons behind the beat. The chorus chants, “But I be good by the weekend, I be good by the weekend, everything good by the weekend.” Ain’t that the truth? Miller swears off his ex throughout the song; poppin’ pills, drinking bottles, then the weekend comes and he feels better. Miguel adds a sultry R&B layer, as he usually does with every piece of music he slides onto. An unlikely pair sure make this song worth your time.

Coldplay cranks up the gorgeous magic on their latest single, “Adventure of A Lifetime” a Daft Punk/Alt-esque song. Martin’s voice soars, as usual as he sings, “You make me feel like i’m alive again, alive again!” A reoccurring guitar riff flows through the song making you bop your head in-sync. Coldplay always delivers a powerful message, and “Lifetime” is no different; “And if we’ve only got this life, In this adventure, then, I want to share it with you.” The song becomes addicting (as most Coldplay songs do) and the chill vibe is strong. Martin recently told KROQ that “Adventure of A Lifetime” is, “Just the way we’re feeling at the moment…last year we made this record called Ghost Stories which was very intimate and personal—it was more about how to deal with difficult feelings and how to alchemize them. And part of learning that journey was that at the end of it you get to a more joyful place. So some of that is really coming through on this album.” I can’t wait to hear what’s next!
