The latest track from indie/alt band, All Poets & Heroes proves to be just as powerful and rich as some of their earlier tracks (listen to 2017’s bubbly “Day Dreams“). “Life On The Line” feels like it could be featured in an early 2000’s indie film; cue the rainy window scene and black converse.
Lead singer Rob McCall embodies a young Rob Thomas as his voice echoes throughout the song building to a climactic bridge; probably one of the heaviest we’ve heard from AP&H. McCall says the song is about someone who has taken their own life. The narrator 
is portraying the rational side of the brain getting the final say. “When you’re having these thoughts there are two voices at war. The rational, normal voice and the irrational side that is normally louder in these moments, and pushes you toward the edge. In this story the irrational side won, all that’s left is the rational side saying ‘if you gave me just a few more minutes to get though to you then we would still be here.'” The song closes with the narrator leaving a message of hope to others fighting with the same issues. Rob says, “Find a way to pull through because you can always change what you don’t like tomorrow.”
Soft guitars and a steady drum beat compliment the heavy and emotional lyrics, something we’re used to hearing from the band but “Life On The Line” feels a little more special.
